Dr 56 was Priya Mani’s first release in Kannada in three years. And also the film marked Priyamani's return to Tamil cinema after 10 years The Kannada-Tamil bilingual, directed by Rajesh Anandleela, was an investigative thriller about a murder mystery. The film, which released in theatres in early December, did not have a great run at the box office, but its digital rights have now been picked up and is now available to stream. Dr 56 has been bought by Amazon Prime Video and the film is on the platform now (26th January 2023)
The cinematography by Rakesh Thilak and the background score by Nobin Paul elevate this mystery film. DR 56 movie cast includes Priyamani, Raj Deepak Shetty, Veena Ponnappa, Ramesh Bhat, Yethiraj, and Others. DR 56 has been produced by Praveen Reddy T under Hari Hara Pictures and Sri Lakshmi Jyothi Creations.
The plot revolves around Priya (Priyamani), a CBI officer, comes to the city for investigation of a murder mystery case. Arjun, is suffering from some strange disease. How this mystery is solved by these two people forms the basis of the story.
