This week brings a good mix of thriller, drama, action and animation. Here are the movies that you can stream until New Year's Eve!
Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food:
The story of Annapoorani, an aspiring chef who wants to be well-versed in culinary skills including non-veg cuisines. Owing to her family being orthodox Brahmins and her father being the priest of the Srirangam temple; she is brought up as a vegetarian and this serves as an obstacle for the girl in fulfilling her passion. Her journey is no short of an extra-ordinary tale of life. Nayanthara, Jai, Sathiyaraj played the significant role.
The film marks the Lady Superstar Nayanthara's 75th film. Directed by debutant Nilesh Krishnaa, the film did not run well at the box office due to its weak writing and long-drawn screenplay. Streaming from December 29.
Three Of Us:
Three of Us is a moving drama that centers on Shefali Shah's character Shailaja, who is battling the early stages of dementia and wishes to return to the coastal village of Konkan before her memories start to disappear. Helmed by Avinash Arun and Shefali Shah, Jaideep Ahlawat, Swanand Kirkire played the pivotal role.
The film was on the list of 25 films chosen for the Indian Panorama 2022 at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), last year. Available on Dec 29.
A Ranjith Cinema:
Malayalam film A Ranjith Cinema has started streaming on digital space from December 29. The psychological thriller is now available on Netflix. Nishanth Sattu is making his directorial debut with this film, starring Asif Ali, Saiju Kurup, Anson Paul, Namitha Pramod, Jewel Mary, and Hannah Reji Koshy in lead roles.
The netflix synopsis reads, "A young filmmaker starts adding horror-filled fictional events to a screenplay based on his life — and questions his sanity when they start coming true." The songs in this movie were composed by Midhun Asokan. The audience praised the movie for its intriguing elements and Asif Ali's performance.
Shastry Viruddh Shastry:
Paresh Rawal's latest outing at the theatres, Shastry Viruddh Shastry has started streaming on NETFLIX from December 29. The film, directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprasad Mukherjee. A remake of their 2017 directorial Bengali Film Posto, the drama garnered mixed reviews and emerged as a commercial failure. The movie boasted certain good beats and decent performances by the lead actors but suffered due to its drudged screenplay.
The movie follows the emotional journey of a seven-year-old boy named Momoji, who is torn between his parents and loving grandparents. Neena Kulkarni, Shiv Pandit also played the pivotal roles.
Kho Gaye Hum Kahan:
Set in Mumbai, 'Kho Gaye Hum Kahan' is a story about three best friends - Imaad (Siddhant Chaturvedi), Ahana (Ananya Panday) and Neil (Adarsh Gourav) and their relatable journey of navigating aspirations, relationships and emotions together. The film is set for a direct-to-digital release on Netflix. It will start streaming on December 26 on this platform. Helmed by Arjun Varain Singh.
